If you have decided that this is the year that you will be installing a pool, you want to make sure that you get the pool that you have been dreaming of. In order to get the pool of your dreams, you need to know what you want and be able to articulate what you want your pool to look like and what you want to get out of your pool.
1. Create an Idea Board
There are a lot of awesome pool designs and looks already out there; you don't need to start from scratch and come up with all of your own ideas. Start looking and searching online and in magazines for pictures of pools and backyards that you like. Create a collection of inspiration photos. Keep in mind that you don't have to like everything about the photo; you may only like the color of the tile around the pool, or you may like that the pool gave you an idea to have an adjacent spa. The point is to create pictures that inspire you.
After you have a collection of pictures, go back through and write down what you like about each picture. Then, review your notes of what you liked about each photo. This will help you come up with an idea of the things that you and want your own pool to have.
2. Think About How You Will Use the Space
When you install a pool, you are not just putting in a pool; you are transforming your entire backyard space. Beyond going swimming, think about how you want to use your pool and your entire backyard.
Do you have young kids or have young children over frequently? A shallow area would make a lot of sense, or a separate splash pad or even a splash pad with fountains would all be fun and safe ways for younger children to play in the water.
Do you like to do a lot of entertaining? If so, you'll want a set-up that allows you to set up a patio table or two, as well as a barbeque, smoker, and other outside grilling equipment.
Do you want to relax your muscles as well? An attached spa or adjutant spa allow your pool area to be a place of exercise and relaxation.
Defining how you want to use your space can help you further shape the design of your space and determine what type of pool and back-yard set-up you want. Contact a company like ACS: Concrete | Construction for more information and assistance.
